Help Sick Kids Get Better Fast
Last year between Christmas and New Year’s, my two littlest came down with a stomach bug. We’re generally very careful as a family with hand-washing and keeping the house clean but well, you can’t keep kids in a bubble. And we think they got the virus playing with other kids at a holiday party. High fevers, hourly vomiting and diarrhea in both my 6-year old and then 20-month old was scary to see as a parent. They were very sick and each required a separate ER visit. I most definitely do not want to go through that with my kids again!
1. Reducing the Spread of Illness
Naturally the first line of defense when your child is sick is to make sure that the illness doesn’t spread to everyone else in the household. You won’t be able to give full attention to your sick little one if you’re ill too! Consider more frequent hand washing, not sharing cups or utensils, daily wiping down of frequently used items (like light switches and remote controls) and daily laundering of bedding, especially pillows.
Even something as easy as removing shoes before coming inside the house can help keep germs out. When we notice that one of our children is sick, we quarantine that child into one room of the house to avoid spreading illness to anyone else.
2. How Do You Take Care of Your Child with a Fever?
Young children often spike a fever for seemingly no reason. Fortunately it’s often nothing to worry about; fever usually means that the body is working properly to fight off infection. After you’ve cleared the fever with your doctor, you’ll just want to make sure your little one is comfortable. Supply them with plenty of water, ice pops and soup or other liquids. A lukewarm bath (not ice water) can help bring down the body temperature. Rest is also very important so encourage lots of snuggle time.
3. Flu Remedies – What Works & What Doesn’t?
Flu symptoms can include chills, sweats, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite. So how can you make your kids feel better with the flu? If you have an older child, prop up pillows so they can lay more upright. If you can, get them to use nasal drops that will loosen mucus. A humidifier or vaporizer will help loosen congestion, as well. Again, offering plenty of fluids is important. If your child feels like eating, start with something light and plain, like a few bites of banana, salted crackers or toast.
4. How to Stop Diarrhea Fast
Did you know there is a safe diarrhea product that will stop diarrhea, even in toddlers and young children? I just learned about it and believe me, as we head into the holiday and flu season, I’m stocking up now.
We all know how quickly diarrhea in children can cause them to become dehydrated and weak. Did you know that diarrhea is the second leading cause of death in children under 5 globally? While we often just think of diarrhea as an annoying inconvenience, it can actually be a matter of life or death. But thankfully, there is a way to resolve diarrhea safely and quickly. This is a diarrhea product made from naturally derived ingredients that every parent should keep on hand in case of emergency.
DiaResQ® is a more natural approach to relieve that diarrhea quickly. Many diarrhea relief products work by interfering with your body’s natural immune response – some work by slowing down the muscles in your gut while others make it harder for waste to flow through your gut. Delaying this process and keeping that unwanted something in your body longer can also delay recovery.
Diarrhea is the body’s natural immune response to try and remove an invading microorganism, and most other products work by slowing that response (and trapping that organism in your body). DiaResQ is different – it works with your body to address the underlying issue fast. DiaResQ has been clinically demonstrated to resolve most cases of diarrhea on day 1 of use.
How to Stop Diarrhea in Toddlers & Kids
Unlike many over-the-counter diarrhea relief medications, DiaResQ is safe for adults and children as young as one year of age. DiaResQ is a food made from safe, naturally-derived ingredients. The vanilla flavored powder comes in small, nonperishable packets and easily mixes with water. Simply add water, shake and drink! I highly recommend packing it for travel (up to 70% of travelers will experience diarrhea and who wants that to be the reason for a ruined vacation?!). DiaResQ is available at CVS and Amazon. Visit DiaResQ to learn more and keep your child healthier this season!
DiaResQ is not intended for the relief of chronic diarrhea, nor for infants (children aged 12 months or less).
